any educational institution. It is the basic and central biblio graphical organisation of support to the academic programmes of the College.

The mission of ESCET Library is to serve as a gateway to the latest information resources needed by the College staff and students irrespective of location, to enhance teaching, learning research and leisure as well.

The ESCET Library’s KOHA software also runs effectively to provide access to qualitative resources. Library Brief...

The Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET) was established by the Enugu House of Assembly Law N0. 2 of 11th April, 2006.sequel to this, the State Government directed the vacation of the Campus 11, Abakiliki Road premisesof the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) to ESUT Independence Layout, to house the new College. By this directive, the Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET) Library, among other facilities in the former IMT campus was inherited by ESCET.

The library was set up by the pioneer Librarian and it began its operations under severe accommodation problem as it lacked space to accommodate the various sections of the library including staff offices. However, the library gradually and successfully passed through its teething stage and today through the intervention of TETFUND, the ESCET Library was moved to a gigantic Library Complex in January, 2020.

Every library user has to be registered to have access to the library materials.

  • For a student to be registered he/she must provide two recent passport photographs and recent school fees receipt.
  • There is no payment of fees for registration.
  • Loss of library card attracts a fine of 200 naira only.

Lending of books is strictly for registered users. All registered users must show their borrower’s card at the lending desk for endorsement before books are issued on loan. Books in the library, except reference, serials and reserved books, may be borrowed for use after they have been stamped with a date due for return. The loan period is a maximum of two (2) books for two (2) weeks for students and junior staff, and a maximum of four (4) books for four (4) weeks at a time for teaching staff and senior non-teaching staff. However, other parameters such as number of available copies of books, may be considered before loaning. Renewal of books borrowed is acceptable provided no other library user places a hold on such book (s).

 

Be it known that penalties are usually imposed for overdue, lost or damage of book (s). An overdue book may attract a fine of …… per day. Books lost will be paid for at the prevailing cost of replacement or estimated value of the books, cost of delivery inclusive.

  • Individuals who may wish to use the library must obtain permission from the College Librarian to access the library

The library membership may be open to the following categories of users after meeting the required conditions for membership. You can access or apply for access to use the Library upon proper documentation at the library’s circulation desk.

  • All Council members of ESCET
  • All staff of ESCET (Teaching and Non-Teaching)
  • Relatives of ESCET staff who must be properly identified
  • Researchers
  • Undergraduates and post-graduate students of the College
  • Researchers from outside the College can apply to the College Librarian to have access to the library for a specific period of time.
